Class members went through the process of coming up with an idea for a new bill, breaking up into Committees to approve, disapprove, change or modify the bill. Bills that made it out of committee were presented on the 'Senate' floor to discuss and vote on. Students chose which state they wanted to represent as senators.
Students were pretty passionate about some of the topics they supported or opposed. They enjoyed being able to voice their opinion while they 'had the floor.' They realized it's not easy to get a bill through all the steps necessary to become a law.
