Banner Christian standout student athlete and senior Davian Burke ended his competitive high school track and field career with a flair on May 17 at the at the Virginia Independent Schools’ Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
His performances continue to amaze as Davian set the VISAA record in both the 110-meter hurdles (14.3 seconds) and 300-meter hurdles (38 seconds flat, also a personal record). He took home the title in both outdoor events for a third consecutive year—an incredible three-peat. Davian wiped out the previous record in the 110s established in 2000 and the 300s set in 2022.
In mid-February, Davian repeated as the VISAA champion in the 55-meter hurdles. In total, Davian finished his prep career with eight VISAA titles to his name.
He was a standout in the classroom, as well, earning valedictorian honors for the class of 2024. Davian is headed to George Mason University in Fairfax on a track and field scholarship in the fall. Ironically, the individual whose record he beat in the 300s, Albert Asare, will be Davian's roommate during his first year of college.
