Middle & Upper School History

Melissa Helmick holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Provident University. She is a true multitasker, wearing multiple hats in our school community. In addition to her teaching role, she serves as the Praise and Worship coordinator and also lends her expertise to coaching our girls' volleyball team.

Melissa brings history to life for her students, teaching United States History, World History, and Geography. She keeps an active lifestyle, embracing outdoor activities like camping, cycling, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, and kayaking. These adventures are balanced by her love for quiet moments, spent immersed in books about the history of our nation or delving into theological works.

Before joining the Banner Christian team, Melissa enjoyed a diverse career history. Her journey includes 12 years of military service in the United States Army, along with roles in law enforcement and the financial and insurance industry. As an active member of her church, Melissa is deeply involved in the women's ministry.

One of Melissa's dreams is to establish a Christian therapeutic youth ranch, a testament to her commitment to youth development. She and her husband reside on a small farm, where they care for numerous rescued animals. They offer these animals a second chance at a happy and secure life. Melissa's dedication extends beyond the classroom, creating a caring and supportive environment for both her students and the creatures she rescues.
