Julie Smith's journey to becoming a part of the school is a unique twist in her life's path. Interestingly, Julie's daughter, Mrs. Lindeman, serves as the music teacher at Banner's Chesterfield campus. The connection to Banner was cemented after Julie met the Owings family at a community event. This encounter led to her considering a teaching role.

Outside of her teaching responsibilities, Julie finds fulfillment in volunteering at the Culpeper Literacy Council. Her educational background is in Home Economics Education and Extension, earned from Virginia Tech. Julie's passion for literacy, Christian education, and the importance of modeling a cohesive Christian worldview for students is evident in her journey. She homeschooled her own children and now has the privilege of carrying that passion forward at Banner.

Julie's upbringing on dairy farms in northern Virginia and Maryland instilled in her a love for all things "green," including gardening and hiking. Her appreciation for the outdoors rejuvenates her spirit. The Smith family shares a deep love for good music, even if their definition of "good" may be up for debate. They relish a blazing campfire, target practice, and lively tabletop games, all accompanied by a bowl of popcorn. Occasionally, Julie may choose to sit out the table game and instead join in the laughter while she knits. Her multifaceted interests and commitment to Christian education make her a valuable asset to Banner Christian School.
