Scarlett Blankenship

Raised in Midlothian, Virginia, Scarlett Blankenship’s connection to Banner Christian School began long before she became a Middle and Upper School Math Teacher. She attended Banner Christian through eighth grade and later dreamed of returning to teach. Following college, she came back as a substitute while exploring her next career step. What began as a natural place to serve led Scarlett to embrace the calling she had wrestled with since high school: God was leading her to teach mathematics at Banner Christian.

Before joining the Banner Christian faculty full-time, Scarlett worked with students ranging from preschoolers to older children at a local Christian school. Her academic studies brought together advanced mathematics, mathematical modeling, statistics, and software development, giving her a broad perspective on how mathematical thinking reaches far beyond a textbook. Together, those experiences strengthened both her ability to connect with students and her desire to make challenging concepts approachable.

Mathematics has fascinated Scarlett for as long as she can remember—with the memorable exception of long division in fourth grade. She welcomes the challenge of a difficult problem and the hard-earned satisfaction of finding its solution. More importantly, college helped her recognize mathematics as an act of worship, revealing the patterns of creation and characteristics of God. In her classroom, Scarlett hopes students will build confidence, persevere through challenges, ask for help when needed, and see Christ reflected in the numbers, shapes, and patterns around them. 

Beyond the classroom, Scarlett draws energy from close relationships, shared experiences, and an active church community. Whether baking something to share, gathering around a game, or lingering in conversation with friends until the church parking lot is nearly empty, she values the everyday moments that bring people together. That warmth and curiosity carry naturally into her classroom, where learning is both a challenge to embrace and an experience to share.
