Upper School English

Diane's journey through life began in sunny Miami, Florida, and her heart belongs to the beach. Her educational path took her to Barry College and then to Florida State University. There, she pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and speech communication. But Diane's love for knowledge was boundless, and she embraced minors in psychology, sociology, and philosophy.

Though her love for God, her country, and her family is immense, it's her students who bring her the most joy. Witnessing her students learn and, especially, become proficient writers fills her with tremendous satisfaction. Every day, they inspire and teach her, and she thanks God for the privilege of being their teacher.

Outside the classroom, Diane's interests vary with the seasons. In the summer, she finds solace in her vibrant garden of flowers, while winter inspires her to pursue the art of quilting. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is important to her, and she dedicates time almost every day to activities like walking, bicycling, and stretching.

At home, Diane and her husband have a 5-pound Yorkie named Tia, who they lovingly rescued six years ago. As you can imagine, Tia has been thoroughly spoiled!

Diane's life is rich with family. She raised three wonderful sons and now enjoys the blessing of six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. They are her true love and a source of endless joy.

With a passion for reading, Diane can't just choose one favorite book; she adores many. Nonfiction books hold a special place in her heart, allowing her to continue her journey of learning and exploration.

As a devoted teacher, gardener, quilter, and grandmother, Diane Murrell brings her rich life experiences and enthusiasm to the classroom, enriching the lives of her students at Banner Christian.
