Barbi de Haas
Barbi de Haas, our Middle & Upper School Principal, brings boundless enthusiasm and dedication to her role at Banner Christian School. Her deep-rooted love for the school is evident in the joy she finds in serving our students and families.
When she's not on campus, Barbi thrives in a world of adventure. She's an avid hiker, runner, and scuba diving enthusiast, and her passion for travel takes her to domestic and international destinations. As a devoted UVa fan since 1976, you can often find her cheering on or attending games. However, she also enjoys quieter moments, spending time in scripture and Bible study.
Barbi's partner in these adventures is her husband, Duke, and she relishes family time with her children, whether it's a meal, an activity, or a movie night after a Sunday cookout. Together, Duke and Barbi explore the world, making the most of their shared experiences.
In her professional life, Barbi has a bachelor's degree in Psychology from UVa and a Master's in Social Work with a counseling specialization from Virginia Commonwealth University. However, when the opportunity arose for her to take on the role of Principal, she returned to school to earn a Master's in Education to better serve in that capacity.
Above all, Barbi's true passion lies in relationships, both human and Divine. She thrives on supporting and encouraging students, Banner families, and her own family and friends. While she cherishes her role as an administrator at Banner, she will tell you that her dearest connections are with Banner faculty, staff, students, and families.
