A message from our Head of School

Dear Friends,

I would like to take a moment to personally welcome you to Banner Christian School.  We are here to serve Christian families in our community as they “train up their children in the way they should go…”  This task is awe inspiring, and Banner seeks to come alongside parents to create a harmony in educational philosophy. Our goal is to unify the training a child receives at home and their local church by providing a school where Christ is preeminent and education is rooted in the Word of God.  Accomplishing this task requires a dedicated staff with a Kingdom vision. God has blessed Banner with a staff of well-qualified, Christian teachers. Each teacher is a born again believer with a proven testimony of faith. In addition, each teacher is a college graduate and teaches within his/her field of knowledge.

Academics, athletics, and extracurricular activities are of great importance, but at Banner we understand that training a young person to think biblically is of greater importance.  If we think biblically, everything we set out to accomplish must be done to the very best of our ability, not because society deems academia as necessary, but because our Lord and Savior requires it.  When children begin securing their thoughts in eternal matters, priorities shift and significant tasks are achieved.

Banner Christian School is a place where teachers teach, students learn, parents are happy, and God is magnified.  Enjoy the information on our website, and if we can be of further assistance, please call the school office. May God richly bless in all you do.

Yours in Christian Education,

Thomas W. Burkett, PhD.

History

The idea of a board-run, non-denominational Christian school in the Richmond metropolitan area was conceived in the winter of 2002. This idea stemmed from the need to offer Christian families and alternative to church-run Christian schools. Interviewing Christian educators and parents in the geographic area confirmed the need for such a school; on November 1, 2002, several families felt the Lord’s calling and took a step of faith towards making the vision a reality. Hence, on November 18, 2002, Banner Christian School was officially formed. Many months of preparation culminated on August 25, 2003, when Banner opened its doors to 67 wonderful children. To God be the glory, great things He has done!
