James Zhong

Originally hailing from Wuhan, China, James's journey brought him to Virginia, and ultimately, to Banner Christian—twice.

James attended Liberty University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in mathematics. His passion for this field has always been a driving force in his life. While mathematics may not be the subject that seeks truth, it certainly aims for consistency. In a world where consistency in definitions is often overlooked, teaching math becomes a form of evangelism for James. In his eyes, both teaching math and sharing the Gospels are equally fascinating and meaningful endeavors.

As for his career with Banner, it began the first time when he arrived at Banner as an international high school student in 2013. He says that he "came to Banner as a high school student 10 years ago and can never escape the trap."

James brings a unique approach to teaching, as he isn't particularly fond of teaching solely from textbooks. Instead, he uses them as guidelines and crafts his own tests, providing a fresh perspective for his students. This approach aligns with Banner's faith-based mission by emphasizing innovative teaching methods.

In his spare time, you might find James hitting the gym or enjoying some sushi at Sushi King. With his passion for mathematics and unique teaching style, James Zhong is sure to be a memorable figure in the lives of his students at Banner Christian for years to come.
